Julio Soto’s cover art commemorates the ocean swell of May 2 when the Zicatela waves crossed the calle del Morro. The beach palapas were swamped as the water came over their sandbags. But the next day, trenches were dug and Colotepec brought in a lot of machinery. By the end of the week business was back to normal, and people with beachfront properties mopped up and had their pools cleaned. The condition was ideal for surfers.

The new board of directors of Puerto’s chapter of the Mexican Hotel and Motel Association was sworn in on August 13 at the Hotel Vivo Resorts in El Palmarito. The new president of the association, which has 40 members (but only 25 are active), is Walter Guillermo Ríos, the general director of Hotel Vivo Resorts. María Goretti Carbajal of Hotel Rockaway is treasurer, Michelle Crowe of Hotel Arco Iris is secretary, Lic. Alicia Mendoza Pacheco of Hotel Puerta del Sol is board member (vocal) 1 and Nora Patricia Guzman of Hostel Chicatana is board member 2.
